Gonzalo A. De la Torre

Gonzalo De la Torre has significant executive experience in the financial and commercial industries. He started his career in his family business, one of the leading greeting card and paper trade companies in Mexico based in Mexico City. After taking on increasing responsibilities in this business from both an operational as well as leadership perspective, Gonzalo was honored with an invitiation to participate in the organization of the FIFA World Cup Mexico 1986 as Assistant to the Press Director.

When the World Cup was over Gonzalo joined “Casa de Bolsa Cremi”, one of the most prestigious stockbroker firms in Mexico. While at Casa de Bolsa Cremi, Gonzalo was certified as an authorized broker by the CNBV (the Mexican Banking, Security and Exchange Commission) and earned the prestigious responsibility of managing the accounts of the firm’s Board of Directors.

Gonzalo then started his entrepreneurial career by importing and selling motorcycles in Mexico and became an early pioneer in effective utilization of the new foreign trade policies of the Mexican Government. After the successful development of the motorcycle business, Gonzalo then joined B&C Marketing Group, a company dedicated to the production and marketing of sports events for TV. He was in charge of the full production, including negotiation with authorities and sponsors, of events like national and international beach volleyball tournaments, etc. In the early 90’s Gonzalo was asked to return to the family business and took over as the Senior Executive in charge of the sales and marketing areas.

Two years later, Gonzalo joined Facileasing, a leasing and fleet management company as Business Development Director. In Facileasing, Gonzalo led the transition from a business strategy unit for tax purposes into the leading national fleet management company. He also participated in the development of the leasing management software including the financial assumptions and calculations. He also developed a rescue plan for troubled clients due to the 1994 financial crisis in Mexico that was highly successful. In the year 2000 he was in charge of opening and operating the Monterrey branch office.

In 2003 Gonzalo decided to finally retake his entrepreneurial career and joined Renaissance EXECUTIVE FORUMS as International Business Partner for Northeast Mexico, based in Monterrey where he lives with his wife Antonia, and their three children. His interests include soccer, which he plays as goalkeeper, going to the movies and family activities.
